The Irishman (2019)

This film was long in the making and you can tell this by how long it is. If you decide to watch this movie, then make sure that you have 3.5 hours spare. It is directed by the wonderful Martin Scorsese and stars no other than Robert De Niro – this is the 9th collaboration between the pair. This mafia biopic centers around Frank Sheeran (DE Niro), who tells the story of the disappearance of his friend Jimmy Hoffa, who is played by Al Pacino. Okja (2017)

This is a film by Bong Joon-Ho that has a very good chance of making you cry. If the name sounds somewhat familiar to you, then it is because he dominated the recent Oscars thanks to his film Parasite – if you have not seen that yet, then you should put it on your list of films to watch. Okja is a slightly weird film that follows a young girl and her best friend, which just so happens to be a big and weird animal that goes by the name of Okja. The pair get in a lengthy battle with the CEO of a big company (Tilda Swinton) as she is trying to take Okja.

IT (2017)

In this film, children start disappearing in a small town which prompts a group of misfit schoolchildren to face their own fears as evil hunts them down. Uncut Gems (2020)

We should warn you straight away that if you decide to watch this movie, you are in for a stressful and tense couple of hours. Adam Sandler is known for his comedy movies, but the Safdie brothers in this film turn him into a jeweler from New York who has to risk everything in order to clear his debts and escape the debt collectors that are coming for him. Sandler is almost unrecognizable in this film, but we are not going to say that is a bad thing. He really should have got some type of reward for his brilliant acting in this film.

Dallas Buyers Club (2013)

This film is based on a true story and was directed by the talented Jean Marc Vallee. This film depicts HIV positive people as heroes instead of martyrs or victims. Matthew McConaughey, who plays the main character Ron Woodruff, won the Oscar for Best Actor thanks to his performance as an AIDs sufferer and an illegal medication dealer. Jared Leto plays the supporting role and his performance was so good as well that he won an Oscar for Best Supporting Role.
