I Can Haz Oscar? Nom Nom Noms Announced...
The big news of the day is that the nominees for the 2012 Academy Awards have been announced. We've got a full run down here, but the basics are as follows: Martin Scorsese's Hugo leads with 12, black and white silent film The Artist follows closely with 11, while Spielberg's War Horse and baseball flick Moneyball languish in third with six noms apiece. And big congrats to NZ's Bret McKenzie who picked up a nom for his work on The Muppets.

No Time Wasted Getting That 'Crow' Reboot Reanimated...
With the ink barely dry on the legal settlement that closed down shop on the planned reboot of The Crow, Relativity Media are wasting no more time and have just announced the writer and director team for the movie. The writer is newcomer Jesse Wigutow and the director is Spaniard F. Javier Gutierrez (2008's crime drama Before The Fall).

Zeta-Jones & Soderbergh Together Again At Last!
Deadline have informed us that Catherine Zeta-Jones will be pairing up with her Traffic director Steven Soderbergh to star in The Side Effects, a thriller written by other frequent Soderbergh collaborator, the Contagion scribe Scott Z. Burns. Blake Lively, Jude Law and Channing Tatum also star.

Pegg And Wright Getting Down To Ice-Cream Related Bidness.  
Word just in via Twitter from director Edgar Wright himself, is that he and longtime collaborator Simon Pegg have started work on the final installment in their Cornetto trilogy, titled The World's End. The message read, "Hard at work..." and the picture of their work process will be instantly identifiable to all those who have watched the bonus features on their Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz DVDs...

Variety are reporting that Lily Collins has dropped out of the new version of horror classic The Evil Dead due to scheduling conflicts.
