Three special preview screenings of Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace 3D will be taking place in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch at 8PM Wednesday, February 8.

Tickets to these advance screenings are extremely limited and there will be no online or phone sales.

Instead those interested in scoring themselves a ticket will need to head down to either Auckland's Sylvia Park, Wellington's Embassy or Christchurch's The Palms this Saturday (Feb 4) in order to pick one up in person.

In order to celebrate the 3D release of the first part of George Lucas' Star Wars saga, Sylvia Park has declared Saturday to be Star Wars Day, and has a full roster of activities planned.

Starting from 10:00am there will be Star Wars characters milling about including R2D2, Jedi training for the kids and face painting, a legion of Stormtroopers who will be met by Jedi, a spectacular lightsaber battle between Darth Maul and Obi Wan Kenobi at 11:55am and then at 12:00pm the preview tickets will go onsale.

If you miss out on a preview ticket to the Wednesday night screening don't join the dark side in despair as the film opens to general release the following day (Thursday 9th Feb).
