Dante's Inferno
In Dante's Inferno, players assume the role of Dante as he travels on an epic descent through Dante Alighieri's nine circles of Hell – limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. Players assume the role of Dante, who descends into Hell after returning home to find his beloved Beatrice murdered, with Lucifer seducing her soul into the underworld. His mission is to save Beatrice, but he soon realizes he is also in Hell to face his own demons and ultimately to redeem himself.
To take down the demons of Hell, Dante is outfitted with two primary weapons: the Scythe he takes from Death and the Holy Cross given to him by Beatrice, which has spiritual powers that will help Dante collect souls and spells from the creatures he defeats on his journey. The game also features a deep upgrade system so gamers can customize their abilities to their specific gameplay style. Each circle showcases its own distinct look, with demons, monsters, damned and geography that are crafted straight from the poem's vivid descriptions. [IGN.com]

Some might squirm at the idea of an old poem being made into a videogame. Yes thats right Dante's Inferno is part of the Divine Comedy written a really long time ago, it was Dante's idea of hell. So the guys over at Visceral Game who brought you Dead Space are at it again this time they are going the hack and slash route. So the basic story goes like this, Dante's wife is taken forcefully into hell. Dante cannot take this and he decides to get her back by going into hell after her. Taking with him a "Holy Cross" and a "Sife". Have you played a little game known as "God of War"? Well if you have then Dante's Inferno follows the same suit. At its core its a straight up bloody hack and slash button masher. When I say that it is like God of War, I mean it is exactly like God of War, you will be surprised how similar they are. Even down to mashing buttons to open health crates. The game play can get hectic as you travel through the different "Circles of Hell". With really gory and disgusting moments. Dante's Inferno is not a bad game, but it doesn't do anything new. There is nothing new here, from the sometimes frame rate issues to the sudden difficulty spikes, Dante's Inferno does not have its own identity, its trying to be a God of War clone. Not that being a clone of one of the most enjoyable games ever made is a bad thing. The problem is that God of War 3 just came out. If you were a buyer, would you buy game already in the top ranks in gamers hearts or a clone of it. Dante's didn't offer me anything more than that is already established. If you have a PS3, what the hell is wrong with you, you should be playing God of War 3, no excuses. Whereas as if you own an Xbox 360 and wish to feel the masterpiece that is God of War, the closest that you can come to that experience on your 360 is Dante's. I will suggest a rental with Dante's Inferno, as it is only 10 hours long and there really is no incentive to go back and play it again. I expected more from Visceral Games, but don't fret at least they have Dead Space 2 coming out this year. Am I right?

This games is great for all round fun, its a challenging game that can require some thinking, but is very technical in the way you make batman fight! A lot of different actions used, RECOMMEND for anyone wanting to play a GOOD game!
